Service dog training for disabled individuals nationwide

PSD Academy & Registry offers a 2 week long training course followed by a year of practical application, monthly progress checks, support, and continued education for individuals that wish to have their own dogs trained as their medical service dogs to help mitigate their disability. This course is designed to teach the owners and dogs together so that the owner becomes their own dogs trainer. In other words, we are teaching you how to train your own dog as a service dog for your specific disability. This course requires the owners participation in the training process. Many individuals that want to learn how to train their own service dogs for their individual needs choose to take our course because of the vast knowledge they gain, highly advanced training, completion certification, and continued support that we provide.

What can I expect to get out of this training course?

Upon completion of the initial 2 week long course, you will receive your Service Dog "In-Training" Certificate and ID's. The training process continues for an additional year for support, progress checks, video submissions, and troubleshooting. You will be asked to send videos monthly for evaluation and progress checks.

Our goal is to produce exceptional service dogs that provide the medical assistance their owners need to help with their disability. At the end of the year, or upon mastery of your service dog tasks and obedience (whichever comes later), you will receive your "Service Dog" Certificate and ID's.

What is the training course?

This is a course like any other college course. It consists of classroom style, hands on application, and homework.

You must complete the week course, the year of monthly video submissions showing progress, and keep up with your monthly homework assignments (specific obedience and service tasks) to receive your service dog course completion certificate. This course requires time and dedication to complete. Our goal is to produce exceptional service dogs which requires the level of advanced obedience and task training that we provide. Please decide if you have the time to dedicate to the training of your dog before enrolling in our program.

Classes are held in hotel meeting rooms, as well as public settings such as stores and parks. Classes are held daily from 9am to 5pm with an hour break for lunch at 12pm. Each handler and dog team will have homework nightly which will be practicing different service tasks and obedience. Each individual will bring their own dog. We will be instructing and your will be teaching your own dog. We are experts in every training method such as: dogs that are easily treat, praise, or toy motivated to dogs that are a bit more stubborn and need a more firm training style. With our instruction and experience you and your dog are guaranteed to learn.
